WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?

For millennia, men and women have fought about who Jesus Christ is.  He is considered as a deity; a god; a godly man at times; a mere man at others; a prophet; a deceiver; a savior, and so on.  Many people adore and despise him, but who exactly is this Jesus?

The bible answers this question, however men utilize it to their advantage for their own personal and religious convictions about who Jesus is. As a result, individuals are confused and have doubts about this subject, among many others.

However, the Bible is very clear on this matter, and when correctly translated, there is no doubt about who Jesus is. Let us now set aside men's various incorrect beliefs and study what the Bible teaches.  We read in Philippians 2:6 that "who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"  No one could be in the form of God unless He is God. In His nature, Jesus has the same condition of existence as God. The Bible says that He is “equal with God”.

These statements would be of the highest blasphemy if they were not true. It states in the book of John 5:16 – 18 ”And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.”
The Jewish rulers in general never accepted the Messiahship of Jesus because they hated Him; However, they did understand that the term “Son of God” means “God in the flesh : One equal with God”.  As Jesus showed that “God is His Father”.

As Jesus is God, He can reveal God; for only God can reveal God. Heb. 1 : 1 – 3 reads, “God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person.”
The Bible is very clear and very detailed on Christ’s deity! It shows that Christ is the brightness of God’s glory. God's glory is evidence of His literal presence: Exodus 29:43—46 reads…”And there will I meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory… And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God… that I may dwell among them; I am the LORD their God.”  Notice, the sanctuary is sanctified by God’s glory as evidence of His literal presence.

Again we read: Ex. 29 : 43 - “And I WILL MEET with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by MY GLORY“. Read also Ex. 40 : 34 – 38; 2Chronicles 5 : 13-14; Ex. 9 : 3-4 and Rev. 15 : 8.
John records in the book of Revelation 21 : 22 + 23 concerning the new Jerusalem..
“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it, for the GLORY of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

So we understand that Christ being the glory of God, means that God revealed Himself in the Person, Office of the Son.  Literally, God the Divine Nature in a temple of flesh.  Rightly interpreted Jesus Christ is God, the Creator revealed in a temple (body) of flesh, for the purpose of bringing salvation to mankind.

As we continue to read in the book of Hebrews 1 : 3 which states that Jesus Christ the Son of God … “ is the EXPRESS IMAGE OF THE PERSON OF GOD." These are very, very strong implication that cannot be refuted unless for the obvious reason of dethroning the kingship of Christ! However let us examine this statement a bit closer. The word image means “a visual representation of an object or person.“ So Christ is to mankind, in the plan of redemption, a visual representation God. Not in visual representation of shape and form, for the bible shows that God has no shape and form, so the physical body of Christ is not God, but the Divine Nature in Him. (This at once does away with all forms of idol worship, as commanded in Ex. 20 : 4-5 and throughout the bible).
We therefore do not worship the body of Christ who is the express image of God but we understand that Christ reveals expressly what the character of God is. The image of God = the character of God. John 13 : 8 - 9 reads, “Philip saith unto to him, Lord show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father...”.  Knowing Jesus is knowing exactly who the Father is. Psalm 86 : 15 “ But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.”

Christ stated many times that He is God. Even His works revealed that He is God.
John 5:58, “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.”
The I AM of the bible is revealed in Exodus 3 : 13, 14.” And Moses said unto God, Behold when I come unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, The God of our fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say unto me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”
Christ openly stated that He is THAT I AM! He is the God of Israel, the God of the whole earth, the God of all nations, languages and people; the God of the universe. Christ is the self existing God.
Again Christ states in John 10 : 30, “I and my Father are one.” Not as two persons working as one for a said purpose, but Christ is stating that He and the Father are one in nature. The One Divine Nature operating in the person office of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As termed in the bible ; “The Godhead.”

Christ, who is God was prophesized to be in the world; Isaiah 9 : 6 reads, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 7 : 14, Matt.1 :23, Matt. 2 : 11, 1Tim. 3 : 16.

Yes my friends, Jesus is God and I invite you to accept Him for He is also our Savior. To deny Him does not changes who. He is because there is salvation in none other.
Jesus Himself warns us in the book of John 8 : 23-24, “And He said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
I SAID THEREFORE UNTO YOU, THAT YOU SHALL DIE IN YOUR SINS: FOR IF YE BELIEVE NOT THAT I AM, YE SHALL DIE IN YOUR SINS.”
Salvation is still available to all, if you have not chosen Christ as yet, do not delay.  For to know Him is Life Eternal. May you be blessed as you give your life, and all of your sins to Christ who loves you and gave His life as a provision for you. This is the end of part one of this study.
